Why Go?: Please join American Red Cross Blood Drive in effort to give the gift of life by donating today! One donation can help save three lives. All types needed, but there is a critical need for type "O" blood. To schedule an appointment call 1-800-REDCROSS.

United Way of Forsyth County "Stuff the Bus" Event

Where/When: Parking lot of Walmart located at 1500 Marketplace Boulevard, Cumming and Walmart located at 5455 Atlanta Highway, Alpharetta, Saturday, July 30, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Why Go?: The United Way of Forsyth County will "Stuff the Bus" with school supplies for children in need (see our story). Donations will go to The Place of Forsyth County and Forsyth County Schools. Look for the yellow school bus at each location. For more information or if your business or organization would like to participate by collecting supplies, contact the United Way office at 770-781-4110.

Brookwood Farmers’ Market

Where/When: Brookwood Elementary parking lot, 2980 Vaughan Dr.
Cumming, (the market is located in South Forsyth just a couple blocks from the intersection of 141/Peachtree Parkway and Brookwood Road by Johns Creek Super Target and Home Depot), every Friday through September 30, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. (rain or shine)

Why Go: The Brookwood Farmers Market, a non-profit organization, offers locally grown Georgia produce and goods. Shop from an array of fresh locally grown produce, meat, eggs, bread, flowers, soaps, and much more. Also activities for the kids and live music while you shop.

Price: Free (It is suggested to bring cash since not all vendors accept credit cards or checks).

Where/When: 1050 Buford Dam Rd, Cumming, Saturday July 30, 7 p.m.

Why Go?: Have fun on Lake Lanier by joining this party. Bring your swim wear as the party transports to a private island. Enjoy great music, a hot tub and complimentary food.

Price: $44

Where/When: , 101 School St, Cumming, now through, Sunday, July 31, all shows 8 p.m. except on Sunday's, 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy This 2011 Cumming Playhouse presentation of the classic Big River directed by Colleen Quigley Green. Donations help raise much needed funds for the Bald Ridge Boys Lodge.

Price: You are encouraged to chose the ticket price that includes a donation and 100 percent of donations will go directly to the Bald Ridge Boy’s Lodge.

Alpharetta:

Where/When: , 2200 Encore Pkwy, Alpharetta, Saturday July 30, 8 p.m.

Why Go?: The magic of Cirque comes to the Symphony! Marvel in amazement at high flying aerialists, daredevil cyclists and more acrobatic feats of wonder set to classical masterpieces and contemporary hits.

Price: $12 - $35

Where/When: , 377 S Main St, Alpharetta, Saturday, July 30, 8 p.m.

Why Go?: Atlanta native, artist, and musician Mike "Swami" Schulman was noticed and began working for the Grateful Dead in 1992. When Jerry Garcia died in 95, Swami put "Swami Gone Bananas" together to 'cover' them. Enjoy this compilation at Matilda’s Saturday night.

Price:  Adults $15., 12-17 years $10., 6-11 years $5., under 5 free.

Why Go?: Further Festival is Phil Lesh, Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead along with Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Joe Russo, Sunshine Becker and Jeff Pehrson.

Roswell:

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, Saturday July 30, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Why Go?: Summer and camping go hand-in-hand! If you are not quite ready to head to the mountains, then start out at CNC! We will sleep out under the stars, enjoy night hikes, play games in the meadow, visit with nocturnal animals, roast marshmallows around the campfire, and more!  

Price: $45 Non-Member Families/$35 Member Families, Pre-Registration Required.
