Get Out Cumming: Food Festival and Roses

It's time to smell the roses, enjoy a food festival, run a 5K and help the community by keeping it beautiful and raising money for worthy causes.

Cumming Patch provides a selection of events and activities to help you get out there and make the most of your free time, whatever your aim. Enjoy!

Where/When: The Avenue Forsyth, 410 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, Thursday, May 19, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Why Go: Benefiting the , more than 40 restaurants will be participating. There will also be a Kid Zone, live music and other sponsors offering giveaways and prizes.

Price: Admission is free; tickets for food, drinks and activities are just 50 cents each.

Where/When: , 2300 Keith Bridge Rd, Cumming, Friday, May 20, 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Why Go: To learn more about the local ecosystem and discover new ways to help protect and monitor the water quality in Forsyth County’s lakes, streams and wetlands. Hosted by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful and the Forsyth County Adopt-A-Stream program.

Where/When: , 405 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, Saturday May 21, 8 a.m.

Why Go: This is a great race to support the Lambert High School Cross Country Team. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the one mile fun run begins at 9:15 a.m.

Price: $15 ($20 on race day)

Where/When: , 6050 Bethelview Road, Cumming, Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Why Go: Learn how to select, plant and maintain beautiful rose bushes. This lively class will present guests with simple tips on creating a rose bed in any garden to ensure that gardeners of any skill level can raise blossoming bushes.

Where/When: , 6755 Majors Rd, Cumming, Saturday, May 21, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why Go: Cake-tastrophe! is a family fun food fight for the cause, Next Generation Focus. Come dressed in your protective gear and prepare to get messy! Main event is the food fight and creme pie throwing. Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will be present to discuss Stranger Danger and let the kids go for a ride in a patrol car. Forsyth County Firefighters will have an engine and talk about fire safety, Cici's will be selling pizza, Starbucks will sell coffee and La Cupcakerie will be selling cupcakes.

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, Saturday, May 21, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Learn if the extinct Ivory-Billed Woodpecker still exist. Set in a murky swamp overrun with birders, scientists, and reporters, this spellbinding documentary explores the seductive power of hope and how one phantom woodpecker changed a sleepy Southern town. Approximately 90 minutes long, Ages 13 - Adult

Why Go: Enjoy this best loved musical as is draws from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades and vaudeville. This production will star an ensemble of talented local teens.
