Get Out: Make A Plan For The Weekend

That plan could include great music, an organic farmer's market, a chili cook-off and more.

This weekend get out and meet an author or listen to some tunes from bluegrass and Irish music to 19th century masterpieces, these are just a few of our favorite things to do this weekend, March 18-19.

Why Go: Enjoy food, bluegrass, face painting and meet the growers at Cumming HarvesOpen Market. This is the chance to buy some locally grown organic (no chemicals) food.

The Cumming Harvest is an online Market of locally grown food, open all year, produced without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides by local family growers who care about the food we eat and the land we live on.

Where/When: , 6290 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Duluth, Saturday, March 19, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. (bowl preview sale); 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Chili Cook Off.

Why Go: All are invited to join Johns Creek Community Arts Center for their annual Chili Cook-Off. Bowls Preview Sale will be from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., come early to get first pick of all the bowls! Enjoy snacks and refreshments as you browse and purchase your one-of-a-kind bowl. Then be ready for your taste buds to enjoy the savory flavors of chili as all the local chefs boast their chili.

Where/When: Peerless Book Store, 8465 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Alpharetta, Saturday, March 19, 1 p.m.

Why Go: Visit the new Peerless Book Store on Saturday when guest James Robert Smith talks about his newest release, "The Flock."  This is a book that is already on the way to the big screen. Peerless Book Store is located between in between Kroger and Mona Lisa in Rivermont Station.

Where/When: , 950 Forest St, Roswell, Saturday, March 19, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Georgia Philharmonic for a feast of 19th Century Lyric Masterpieces.  The night will conclude with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, which inspires audiences and critics alike with its lively rhythms and memorable motives. By the end of this tour, you will not be able to go home without at least one song stuck in your head.

Price: $10 Student/Seniors ($35 season); $15 Adult General ($55 season); $25 Adult Prime ($95 season)

Where/When: Cumming Playhouse, 101 School St, Cumming, Saturday, March 19, 8 p.m.

Why Go: This Saturday and Sunday celebrate St Patrick’s Day as the Cumming Playhouse Singers present music of Ireland that is filled with many memorable songs, sounds and culture of the Irish. The ensemble has created a wonderful vocal celebration of St. Patrick’s Day that is sure to be both inspiring and entertaining.
