Why Go: Presentation of Colors by Forsyth County Fire Department Honor Guard and Forsyth Pipe and Drum, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, Avenue of Flags Dedication, Rifle Salute by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, The Releasing of Doves and much more.

Why Go? Considering donating blood for fellow Americans this Memorial Day  weekend. All donors receive a free t-shirt and free parking. As long as you are healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 17-years or older, you can give blood every 56 days.

Why Go: A day of family fun featuring face painters, a moonwalk, fire truck rides, snow cones and much more!

34th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival


Where/When: Piedmont Park, 1215 Piedmont Avenue Atlanta, Saturday-Sunday, May 28 - 29, 11 a.m. - 10:59 p.m.

Why Go: One of the country’s largest jazz festivals at Atlanta's Piedmont Park, featuring nine jazz acts.

Grand Opening of Lanier World at Lake Lanier Islands

Where/When: 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway, Buford, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Why Go: Over a half-mile of white, sandy beaches, dive-in family movies on Friday and Saturday nights, live entertainment at Sunset Cove and Big Beach all summer long, a variety of dining options including Sunset Cove Beach Café and the new Gianni’s Italian Bistro and Pizzeria, more than a dozen wet rides, slides and attractions including Wild Waves, Georgia’s largest wave pool.

Why Go? You are invited to be a special guest at the annual Memorial Day weekend festivities at First Baptist Cumming, otherwise known as “Brother Bob’s BBQ.” This fun-filled event promises to be an exciting time for children and adults alike. There will be face painting, children’s inflatable’s, hay rides, and a dunk tank. Dinner will include Brother Bob's famous barbeque chicken with all the trimmings.

Where/When: , 38 Hill Street, Monday, May 30, 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate Memorial Day with up to 6,000 other citizens in downtown Roswell. Recognized as the largest Memorial Day Ceremony in Georgia this is a non-political, non-commercial ceremony honoring veterans and the sacrifices they made in protecting our freedom.
