Lent Begins: Ash Wednesday Services in Forsyth County

Cumming Patch has a look at where services will be held today.

The Lenten season begins for Christians tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 13. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of 40 days of prayer and reflection before the Easter holiday.

Here is look at 2013 Ash Wednesday services in Forsyth County:

Creekside United Methodist Church at 673 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming will hold Ash Wednesday worship service at 6:30 p.m.

Cumming First United Methodist Church at 770 Canton Highway in Cumming will hold its Imposition of Ashes in the Sanctuary at noon and 7 p.m.

Deer Creek Shores at 7620 Lanier Drive in Cumming will have an Ash Wednesday Communion Service at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit at 724 Pilgrim Mill Road in Cumming will hold Ash Wednesday services at noon and 7 p.m.

Living Faith Lutheran Church at 103 Buford Dam Rd in Cumming welcomes all to attend Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m.

North Forsyth United Methodist Church at 6150 Highway 400 in Cumming will hold Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m.

Parkway Church EPC at 5830 Bethelview Road in Cumming will have an Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. in Sanctuary.

St. Brendan the Navigator at 4633 Shiloh Road in Cumming will hold worship services as follows:

  • Noon - Mass
  • 5:30 p.m. - Liturgy of the Word in English
  • 7 p.m. - Bilingual Mass

All Masses and Liturgies of the Word on Ash Wednesday will include the Distribution of Ashes.

The Church of the Good Shepherd at 3740 Holtzclaw Road in Cumming will distribute Ashes during the following times:

  • Noon, 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. - Service with Ashes
  • 7:30 p.m. - Hispanic Mass with Ashes.

The Vine Community Church at 4655 Bethelview Road in Cumming will have a church-wide Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Childcare will be available.
