Long Break for Forsyth County Schools Students

Activities are on as scheduled for Friday at the Cumming Recreation and Parks Department.

With Friday and Monday having already been scheduled as holidays for students, the classrooms won't be filled again at Forsyth County Schools until Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The school district announced Thursday that Friday will proceed as a work day for staff. Also, the Celebration of Excellence luncheon, co-sponsored by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, will be held as scheduled at 11:30 a.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center.

The annual luncheon recognizes FCS' top teachers and business partners.

While state and county crews continued to work through the night Thursday clearing the roads, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reported there were patches of black ice around the county.

By 9 p.m., there still was no word as to when or if Cumming government offices would be open on Friday. But the Cumming Recreation and Parks Department Office did make a Facebook announcement around 8 p.m. that all its activities are on as scheduled for Friday.
