Look: The 2013 Harvest Moon

It's the full moon closest to the autumn equinox, which comes Sept. 22.

Marc Mesa captured this photo of Wednesday night's Harvest moon.

Defined as the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, from North America the moon turned precisely full after sunset Sept. 19, according to earthsky.org.

The autumnal equinox comes Sept. 22, when the nearly equal 12 hours of light and darkness will be caused by the Earth's lack of an axial tilt.
