Power Outages Affect Thousands Saturday

A downed tree caused power outages for thousands of Forsyth County residents Saturday night.

Thousands of Georgia Power customers were without power on Saturday night for about two hours due to a downed tree following a thunderstorm in Forsyth County.

Many of the homes and businesses affected were in the northern part of the county.

Carol Boatright, spokesperson for the company, said the tree that fell damaged some equipment located in the Mary Alice Park Road and Atlanta Road area.

The outages occurred just before 8:30 p.m. and affected 2,080 customers. Boatright said power was restored around 10:20 p.m.
