Stuff the Bus This Weekend at Walmart

Annual campaign looks to fill school bus with supplies, not students.

The annual "Stuff the Bus" campaign rolls into town Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parking lot located at 1500 Market Place Boulevard in Cumming.

The event, sponsored by the United Way of Forsyth County and other community partners, are asking for your help to stuff the bus with school supplies for children in need to ensure they get off to a right start.

Last year more than 12,000 collected items helped approximately 1,200 Forsyth County students be prepared on the first day of school, the United Way reports on its Web site.

If you can't stuff the bus on Saturday, for the remainder of July, donations can be dropped off at the local United Way office located at 407 East Maple Street, Ste. 112, in downtown Cumming, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

School supplies can also be purchased at your local Publix store through their "School Tools for Cool Kids" campaign.

The collected supplies will be distributed through and the Forsyth County school system.

"If you're out shopping for school supplies this weekend, make sure to pick up a few extra items to help us Stuff the Bus in 2012," wrote Leigh Crow of the United Way on her Facebook page.
