Three Dogs, Cat Need New Forever Homes

Here are the latest animals up for adoption at the Humane Society of Forsyth County.

This is the Humane Society of Forsyth County's sweet Peach, and this is a sad story.

Peach originally had been at the shelter for over a year when finally it was his turn to be adopted. He was loved and cherished by his new owner who suddenly passed away last week.

Peach is now at the shelter once again, waiting for the right person to take him home where he will be loved once again. He's sad and confused and doesn't understand why his life has taken such a turn.

If you have ever considered being a foster to an adult cat, please keep poor Peach in mind. Kittens abound at the shelter and get adopted easily, but adult cats like Peach are often overlooked.

Baby Bop is a female German Shepherd and Barney is a Spaniel/Cocker Spaniel mix, both of which have an estimated date of birth of Feb. 12, 2005.

Barney and Baby Bop are best friends. They came from the same home, and they do everything together. They are here because their original owner passed away.

They were initially placed with Forsyth County Animal Control, but thankfully the Humane Society came and saved them from being euthanized for space. They wouldn’t have lasted long because of their age. Barney and Baby Bop are very sweet, calm and loving. Both are crate trained and house trained, and they aren’t really any trouble at all. They get along with other dogs and dream of finding their forever home together.

Checkers is a male American Staffordshire Terrier with an estimated date of birth of Aug. 21, 2011.  Checkers is endangered of being "evicted," as one of his owners plans to travel and the other said she can't "keep up" with him at the age of 87.

Eviction scares Checkers and he bets he could get along with you and any 4-legged kids you may already have. He love to play and walk and only weighs 35 pounds so I won't eat much. He's very affectionate and loves to be a lap-dog. He has never shown any aggression and backs down if others are aggressive with him. He likes to go on walks and likes being outside, but also enjoys the indoors. He is housebroken and crate-trained.
