Whiz Kid: Andrew Johnson Plays It His Way

Andrew Johnson is a creative force in writing music for a band called Simply Fusion. They've been booked for shows and practice regularly. Find out how this Eagle Scout and home-schooled student works hard to make it all fuse together.

When Andrew Johnson started writing music two years ago, he was simply having a "little fun" writing full symphonic and orchestral arrangements. Now he's part of a band that's in demand.

Accomplishments

Having recently completed his Eagle Project as a member of troop 200 at Parkway Presbyterian Church, Andrew Johnson now plans to focus on his music. He writes and plays music for the jazz-fusion band known as Simply Fusion. The group recently performed for the awards banquet at Christian Fine Arts of Forsyth. The group consists of four horns with a piano, bass, drums and guitar. Andrew writes the music and runs rehearsals with the help of band members.

On top of a full performing schedule with the Christian Fine Arts of Forsyth concert band, marching band, drumline and chorus, Andrew is also the senior patrol leader with Boy Scout Troop 200. He's home schooled and attends Veritas Classical School once a week at North Lanier Baptist Church.

For Andrew, it's all in a day's work. Multi-tasking seems to come naturally to this Whiz Kid, but he's got a guiding light to keep things running smoothly.

Keys to Success

"My philosophy for success comes from Matthew 19:26," says Andrew.

'But Jesus looked at them and said, with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'

"I fully believe this with everything I have, and it's the only reason that I've gotten as far as I have," attests Andrew.

With so many possibilities on the horizon for Andrew Johnson and Simply Fusion, one thing's for sure--staying grounded in his beliefs seems to be a constant Andrew has written into his walk through life as well as his music.
