Woman Issues Plea For Return Of Her Dog

She fears the cocker doodle was stolen.

Sherri McCoy sent Patch this e-mail about her missing dog, a cocker doodle named Jefferson who was last seen Nov. 25. She fears he was stolen for resale and might have been "dumped" far from home when the dognappers realized how old he is.

Jefferson Reiley is older dog, 12 to be exact. Partially blind and seems to be losing his hearing as well. He went missing from my yard around 11 am on Black Friday November 25th near intersection of Candler Rd and Glenwood Rd in the White Oak Hills community of Decatur.

He was last seen playing on Eastwood Drive between Ellington St and Old Hickory St at around 12 Noon. A neighbor said she saw Jeff being "played with" by a young couple driving a white Ford car on the day he went missing. She said she went in the house but when she came out a few short minutes later the car and Jeff were gone. She said she also noticed other dogs barking from the back seat of the car.

After talking with several other persons missing dogs in our local area this may be the workings of "Pet Nappers." He is black with a bit of white on his chest. He is neutered, but he is not wearing a collar as he had just been bathed prior to going missing. He was micro chipped, but never registered. He has a lump on his right shoulder and was receiving medication for it.

I have been told that if the people that took him were trying to sell him, they may have groomed him and given him a poodle cut to make him more desirable. This is what that would look like.

I’m not giving up hope. Please help me spread the word.

Thank you so very much in advance for YOUR help in bringing my baby home!
