Harry Potter Takes His Final Ride on IMAX 3D in Cumming

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 debuts Friday on IMAX 3D at AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 in Cumming.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will be the first movie shown on the new IMAX 3D screen at midnight on July 15 at the AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 Theatres.

The midnight movie showing, which will be featured on all 12 screens, is sold out. But according to sources, there will be plenty of showings in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D all day Friday and over the weekend. The movie runs two hours and 13 minutes including previews and trailers.

To celebrate the new IMAX 3D screen and the nationwide release of the last installment of the Harry Potter movies, AMC/IMAX has been hosting a “Harry Potter Photo Scavenger Hunt” to win free IMAX tickets.

In addition, a “Ticket Tearing Ceremony” will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday signifying the official opening of the theater. The event is free and open to the public. Community leaders, including Brian Tam, Chairman of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and James McCoy, President of the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce are scheduled to attend.

The AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 IMAX theatre has been custom-designed for use in a multiplex theatre. Specifically, the screen was replaced with a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen positioned closer to the audience, according to a news release.

Combining IMAX’s technology of revolutionary digital projection system, customized theatre geometry, specially designed screen and powerful digital audio system, moviegoers should expect to feel as if they are IN the movie with Harry and company.

On-screen images are complemented by IMAX’s latest sound system, featuring proprietary loudspeaker technology and uncompressed digital sound.

This sound system has ten times more dynamic range, cuts down on distortion and provides a sound quality that feels more immersive, especially with the added acoustic paneling that absorbs sound and removes echo.
