This year Dr. L.C. (Buster) Evans, superintendent of Forsyth County Schools opted to write a letter to all parents and staff members as another school year gets underway.

Dear Forsyth County Schools Staff Members and Parents,

Welcome back! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break. Our school district is projected to serve over 40,300 students this school year; last year we added 1,722 new students. It has been exciting to meet a number of our new faculty and staff members, as well as the families that have relocated to Forsyth County this summer. I continue to believe strongly that Forsyth County is Georgia’s “greatest place to be” from both an educational perspective as well as outstanding quality of life opportunities for you and your family.

One of the school district’s beliefs is that change creates opportunity. For this school year the district has many positive changes, beginning with a pay increase and no additional furloughs for employees, and the hiring of 280 new educators. Forsyth County Schools’ fourth Strategic Plan will begin this year, starting with a very busy fall with the finalizing the 2014-19 Facilities Plan for future school construction and renovations, adjusting attendance lines for redistricting for the 2014-15 school year, implementing a new Continuous Improvement Plan where school based plans drive the work of the Central Office, venturing into the new teacher and leader appraisal cycles, and also a new virtual learning platform, itslearning.

2013-14 is going to be an outstanding school year! Best wishes to you and your students as they return to continue working for “quality learning and superior performance for all.”

Sincerely,

L. C. (Buster) Evans

Superintendent
