Forsyth Deputy Sheriff Helps to Save Man's Life

Deputy Sheriff William McConnell Jr. has been named "Deputy of the Month" for May.

The North Precinct of the names Deputy Sheriff William McConnell Jr. "Deputy of the Month" for May. This is an honor he has held before, being named Deputy of the Month for and , and .

This time DS McConnell was selected for helping to save a man's life, according to Capt. Mark Flowers, North Precinct Commander.

After a call was placed to 911 on May 21, McConnell followed up to see what the problem was at the residence. All he knew was that the caller said a 58-year-old man was gasping for air and having a possible allergic reaction. When he arrived at the scene, he found the man not breathing.

“Deputy Sheriff McConnell remained calm and began administering CPR until other rescue crews arrived," said Flowers. "He even continued the compressions once EMS was on the scene in order to assist them."

The man regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital.

“We are very fortunate to have Deputy Sheriff McConnell as a part of our agency,” said Flowers. “He always remains calm and handles all situations with a superior level of professionalism. He is an excellent role model.”

Deputy Sheriff McConnell has been with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since October 2010 and is assigned to “B” Watch at the North Precinct.
