Plans for Cumming Costco Seem To Move Forward

Construction at the intersection of Bald Ridge Marina Road and Market Place Boulevard is expected to resume at the end of the month.

Following a long stall in negotiations and construction, plans for a Costco wholesale store in Cumming apparently are moving forward.

An attorney representing the owners of the land at the intersection of Bald Ridge Marina Road and Market Place Boulevard said they are working to complete previous grading work and are hopeful Costco will start building early this year, reports northfulton.com.

Despite the halt, the city chose to move forward with infrastructure improvements in the area of the proposed 148,000-square-foot building and its 650-space parking lot, City Administrator Steve Bennett told Patch in July.

Construction is expected to start again at the end of January, according to northfulton.com. The membership-only warehouse would bring to Forsyth County about 150 new jobs.

The Cumming city council last year approved an alcohol permit for Costco, which is required for commercial properties in multiple-use districts.
