Cumming Hobby Shop Expands Drone Sales

Customers for the remote-controlled helicopters come from such diverse industries as agriculture and movie making.

A local business says business is booming in an area that is normally reserved for the military.

As 11 Alive News reports, Atlanta Hobby's sales of remote controlled drones is taking off, with customers in agriculture, real estate, and the motion picture industry.

The drones Atlanta Hobby sells are basically remote controlled helicopters with cameras attached, not the kind of weaponized, high tech drones used by the U.S. military.

The biggest impediment to domestic drones for business use is the FAA, who restricts anything flying over 400 feet. However, Congress has instructed the FAA to create a formal set of guidelines for drones by 2015.
