Forsyth Chamber to Debut 'Business Showcase'

In lieu of this month's Business After Hours, the chamber decided to do something different and debut a 'Business Showcase' for the community.

The monthly Business After Hours hosted by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, originally scheduled for tonight, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, and for good reason. Today is Valentine's Day.

"February was a weird month for our business after hours," said Jimmy Lane, director of member services for the Chamber. "We typically do it on the second Thursday of the month."

But because this year the date falls on Valentine's Day, Lane said the chamber did not want to cause any "issues within households" so they decided to change the date and "do something different," hence the 'Inaugural Business Showcase'.

Lane says next week's event is a hybrid Business After Hours and trade show similar to the Business Expo that was held last August, but not as big.

"It's just another way for them [business community] to showcase their business," he said.

Tuesday's event will be a bit smaller than the Business Expo featuring 50 vendors including, local businesses displaying their information on tables, the title sponsor, a D.J. to entertain the crowd, a bar, and local cuisine from six food vendors.

Lane, who expects about 150 attendees, said it's too soon to tell if this will be a yearly event held in the first quarter. Though they were sold out of showcase spots by Monday.
