Lighting Technology Company Sets Up Shop, Creates Jobs in Forsyth County

Bright Light Systems new headquarters is located on McFarland Parkway and expects to create at least 50 jobs.

A company dedicated to the creative application of advanced lighting technologies has selected south Forsyth County as the home of its new headquarters.

Bright Light Systems (BLS), Inc. was founded in 2010 to develop a prototype of an energy efficient LED fixture for NASA's Space Shuttle Program.

In a recent announcement by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, BLS anticipates that it will exceed $100 million in revenue in the next five to seven years and create at least 50 jobs.

"Forsyth County offers excellent resources for skilled labor with the Lanier Technical College being a key factor," said Brad Lurie, president and CEO of BLS.

The company's new headquarters is located along the McFarland Parkway corridor.

"Our office location offers great proximity to GA-400 and is recognized as a technology hub allowing Bright Light Systems to develop a supply chain within the county borders in an effort to minimize our cost structure due to increasing transportation costs," Lurie said.

The company thrives by combining both hardware and software solutions that reduce energy and maintenance costs while improving the environmental impact of light pollution and providing employees with a safer work environment, according to Lurie.

"Bright Light Systems helps its customer reduce energy consumption by up to 85 percent," he said. "We are uniquely positioned as a first mover in a high growth industry."

BLS is an emerging leader in energy management for the industrial lighting market. It is one of the first companies to integrate advanced lighting with wireless technologies and data management solutions, according to its website.

Editor's Note: Bright Light Systems is listed as one of the top 10 innovative companies in Georgia for 2013.
