Tam's Backstage Celebrates Anniversary By Giving Back

Proceeds from tonight's dinner will go to fund an ambulance for the Children's Healthcare of Forsyth facility.

Local eatery Tam's Backstage celebrates its sixth anniversary by giving back to the community.

Children's Healthcare of Forsyth's Ambulance Fund has been chosen as the recipient of this year's anniversary dinner.

Kelly Tam told Cumming Patch this is their way of doing something special and giving back to the community.

"We're excited to be hosting this event with Children's Healthcare this year," she said.

Money raised will go towards an ambulance for the Forsyth facility located at The Avenue (see story).

According to the CHOA's website, each ambulance is a mobile intensive care unit with the same quality of equipment found in the Children’s neonatal and/or pediatric Intensive Care Units. The ambulances are tailored to the unique needs of children. The vehicles are also large enough to accommodate parents who accompany their child.

"Having one here in Forsyth, knowing that we will have that for the northern part of our community, for our children, is very important to us," said Beth Buursema, community outreach liaison for Children's.

Even though the Forsyth pediatric immediate care facility is not far from CHOA's main hospital's (Scottish Rite and Egleston), time and traffic can be an issue.

"We all know how traffic is on 400," said Buursema. "Once you are stabilized in these ambulances--medically we can do anything that needs to be done."

Buursema points out how "honored" they are to be this year's beneficiary of the anniversary dinner.

If you're going the dinner will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. For more information contact Tam's Backsage at 678-455-8310.
