Patch Staff Report

The new 177,000-square-foot Super Walmart at 2395 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming is now open.

The south Forsyth County store is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight.

The store has approximately 280 part-time and full-time employees with about 10 percent being war veterans.

To mark last week’s opening, charitable donations were made to local schools, including $1,000 grants to the South Forsyth High School marching band and the Lambert High School cheerleading squads.

A total of $5,000 in grants were made overall as others receiving checks were the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and the Cumming Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Store is real nice. Trying to turn left from 141 into the parking lot is a nightmare. I made the mistake of going around 5PM, waited 10 minutes in the left turn lane - and bailed out. Went to the stoplight, turned and went in the back way.
