A man is claiming to hold a woman hostage inside a home at 5755 Burruss Mill Road in northeastern Forsyth County and threatening suicide, authorities said.

UPDATE, VIDEO: Hostage Situation Over in North Forsyth County

A hostage situation that began early Tuesday morning in northeastern Forsyth County has ended.

The suspect, 28-year-old Matthew Scott Whelchel, was taken into custody at about 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Arrests Mount in Milano Jewelry Heist

Authorities have arrested two more suspects in the multi-million dollar jewelry heist that occurred early Sunday morning, Sept. 25 at Milano Fine Jewelry in Cumming.

West Forsyth Wins Nail-Biter Over Etowah 13-7

held off Etowah 13-7 in a nail-biter Friday night in the first round of the Class AAAAA football playoffs.

It was the school’s first playoff win in history.
