Canton Woman Arrested for Theft from Schools

A Canton woman who was the former treasurer of the Indian Knoll Elementary PTA in Hickory Flat and the Sequoyah High School Girls Soccer Booster Club in Holly Springs has been arrested and charged with two counts of theft, authorities say.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, Kim Turman, 40, allegedly stole $12,448.61 from the Indian Knoll PTA between 2011 and 2012. Turman is also suspected of stealing $5,882.51 from the booster club in 2012. .

Lithonia Man Accused of Shooting at Police During Car Chase

Two men have been arrested in connection to firing shots at police officers during a car chase following an armed robbery at a Waffle House in Norcross.

According to Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith and jail records, Tavares Douglas Harris, 25, of Lithonia, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, providing a false name to an officer and two counts of aggravated assault. .

Five people across metro Atlanta are wanted on racketeering charges in connection with a sales scheme to defraud more than 30 elderly people out of various amounts of money.

Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Midtown

Alpharetta's City Center finally is beginning to seem like it will become a reality with the groundbreaking held on the old section of Haynes Bridge Road that will be the site of the new City Hall.
