Get Out Cumming: Stuff the Bus, Fresh Veggie Shopping

This weekend there is a lot to do in Cumming and nearby towns. Check out a play, shop for fresh vegetables, fruits and books, stuff a bus of school supplies or learn how to ride a horse.

Where/When: Brookwood Elementary parking lot, 2980 Vaughan Dr.
Cumming, (the market is located in South Forsyth just a couple blocks from the intersection of 141/Peachtree Parkway and Brookwood Road by Johns Creek Super Target and Home Depot), every Friday through September 30, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. (rain or shine)

Why Go: The Brookwood Farmers Market, a non-profit organization, offers locally grown Georgia produce and goods. Shop from an array of fresh locally grown produce, meat, eggs, bread, flowers, soaps, and much more. Also activities for the kids and live music while you shop.

United Way of Forsyth County "Stuff the Bus" Event

Where/When: Parking lot of Walmart located at 1500 Marketplace Boulevard, Cumming and Walmart located at 5455 Atlanta Highway, Alpharetta, Saturday, July 23 and July 30, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Why Go?: The United Way of Forsyth County will "Stuff the Bus" with school supplies for children in need. Donations will go to The Place of Forsyth County and Forsyth County Schools. Look for the yellow school bus at each location. For more information or if your business or organization would like to participate by collecting supplies, contact the United Way office at 770-781-4110.

Hampton Park Library Book Sale

Where/When: Hampton Park Library, 5345 Settingdown Road, Cumming, Saturday, July 23, 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 24,
1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Why Go?: 

Shop for children’s Books, teen and young adult, fiction, non-Fiction,
CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, antique and special editions. All proceeds from the book sale will go to support library programming for children and adults. Presented by Forsyth County Public Library Friends & Advocates (an independent 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization).

Price: Varies

Where/When: 6715 Pirkle Dr, Cumming, Saturday July 23, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Why Go?: A great opportunity to learn how to ride a horse! Learn how to by instructors who specialize in teaching beginner English riding lessons created around the disciplines of dressage, combined training, eventing, and U.S. Pony Club.

Price: $40

Where/When: , 101 School St, Cumming, now through, Sunday, July 31, all shows 8 p.m. except on Sunday's, 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy This 2011 Cumming Playhouse presentation of the classic Big River directed by Colleen Quigley Green. Donations help raise much needed funds for the Bald Ridge Boys Lodge.

Price: You are encouraged to chose the ticket price that includes a donation and 100 percent of donations will go directly to the Bald Ridge Boy’s Lodge.

Johns Creek:

Where/When: , 11030 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, Friday and Saturday, July 23 and 24 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Why Go?: Primarily geared towards adults--enjoy a different painting featured each night, step by step instruction and all painting supplies provided. It's all about relaxing and having an enjoyable night out whether you are by yourself, with friends or family. You are welcome to bring your favorite food & beverages! Wine glasses and bottle openers are available.

Price: $25 - $35

Alpharetta-Milton:

Where/When:  , 1140 Liberty Grove Rd, Alpharetta, Saturday July 23, 8 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy an incredible night of music on the beautiful 170 acre grounds of Chukkar Farm & Polo Club. A 'songwriters in the row event' featuring Atlanta's James Casto with Bethany Olds and Nashville hit maker Pat Terry.

Price: $15.00 - $160.00 (for table of eight)

Roswell:

Where/When: 575 Riverside Rd, Roswell, Saturday, July 23, 6:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Why Go: Outdoor Family Movie Night at Riverside Park, featuring the movie 'Rio' beginning at dusk. Be sure to bring your blankets or chairs! Come enjoy fun pre-movie activities. Food and drinks may be purchased at the concession stand
