Get Out: Things to Do This 4th of July Weekend

Enjoy our nation's birthday with celebrations for all ages across Forsyth and North Fulton counties.

Cumming:

Where/When: , 235 Castleberry Rd, Cumming, Sunday July 3, 6 p.m.–10 p.m., Monday July 4, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Why Go? The City of Cumming has the best 4th of July Celebration around!! Our Independence Day Celebration begins on July 3rd at 6 p.m. with various vendors including food and drink, inflatables for kids, a live band, fireworks display along with an all age dance contest following the fireworks. Bring your blanket, sit out on the lawn and enjoy the festivities. There is no admission or parking fee for the July 3rd celebration. On July 4th come and enjoy the famous Steam Engine Parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will include steam engines, antique tractors, antique cars and many other floats decorated in the spirit of the holiday. Following the Steam Engine Parade, take a closer look at the steam engines, tractors and cars at the Fairgrounds.

Why Go?: Kids, Wear your red, white and blue, and come join Barnes & Noble as they celebrate America's birthday. There will be lots of great stories and fun activities. Great for all ages.

Buford:

Lake Lanier Islands 4th of July Celebration

Where/When: Sunset Cove, Lake Lanier Islands, 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway, Buford, Friday July 1 - Monday July 4 (fireworks at dusk).

Why Go?: It's the largest firework display in North Georgia hosted by Lake Lanier Islands. Leading up to the main attraction will be all-day live entertainment, games, and family fun. Price: $8 gate fee per car, no admission fees for beach.


Alpharetta:

Where/When: , 750 Hickory Flat Rd, Milton, Friday July 1, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy listening to Nashville’s Sarah Peacock, an Atlanta native. A true troubadour, the powerhouse vocalist averages more than 200 gigs a year, honing her blend of classic rock, country and pop.

Price: Free

Where/When: , 1755 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta (Wills Park), Monday  July 4, 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Celebrate Independence Day with family and friends at Wills Park. Food vendors will be located throughout the park from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Children's activities will be on the Event Lawn behind Alpharetta Community Center from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Alpharetta City Band will present a patriotic medley from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Fireworks show begins at dusk.

Price: Free

Where/When: , 2200 Encore Pkwy, Alpharetta, Monday July 4, 8 p.m.

Why Go?: The annual celebration fires up the crowd with patriotic standards, singalong anthems and classical thunder, featuring the U.S. Army Chorus, Rob Fisher, music director of the Tony-honored Broadway series Encores and spectacular fireworks.

Price: $12–$35


Johns Creek:

Where/When: Creatively Yours, 11030 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, Friday and Saturday 7 p.m.–10 p.m.

Why Go?: Adults have a different painting featured each day, and learn how to paint it with step by step instructions. All painting supplies provided. It’s all about relaxing and having an enjoyable night out whether you are by yourself, with friends or family. You are welcome to bring your favorite food and beverages. Wine glasses and bottle openers are available.

Price: $25-$35


Roswell:

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, Saturday July 2, 8 p.m.–10 p.m.

Why Go?: Join a naturalist on an outdoor journey to see what happens as the sun goes down and the night comes to life. Hike through the wetlands or woods, visit with a nocturnal animal up close and enjoy a summer campfire complete with marshmallow roasting.

Price: $10 for non members, $7 for members

Where/When: , 950 Forest St, Roswell, Friday and Saturday July 1 and July 2 10 a.m.–11 a.m.

Why Go?: Peter & The Wolf is performed to Sergei Prokofiev's beautiful musical story and The Frog Prince is set to the lively music of Dimitre Kabalevsky. An unusual puppet show in which the marionettes share the stage with the puppeteers

Price: $4 Kids (2-12), $5 Adults

Where/When: , 11595 King Rd, Roswell, Monday July 4, 6 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy carnival games & activities beginning at 6 p.m. There will be food for sale by Miller's Ale House & Restaurant. Performances will include ‘Big Biscuit’ at 6 p.m. and ‘Banks & Shane’ at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks start at dark.
