High Winds, Freezing Temperatures Coming to Forsyth, Cumming

The National Weather Service has issued both a wind advisory for daytime Monday, and a freeze watch overnight Monday for the region.

What happened to spring? Cumming and the rest of Forsyth County is under a wind advisory and a freeze warning.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued a wind advisory, which is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

Don't relax because once the wind dies down we'll be looking ahead to a freeze watch that will be in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday morning.

Cumming won't be alone in the windy and freezing weather, as the advisory and watch will be in effect for all of North and Central Georgia.

Winds will be from the west at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.

Bundle the kids up for school – the freeze warning starts at 2 a.m. Tuesday, but it doesn't end until 10 a.m.

The freezing temperatures will impact early budding and flowering vegetation. Strong winds can make driving difficult. Boats, too, should exercise extra caution, as rough chop could occur on area lakes.

Temperatures on this spring morning will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

"Those with agricultural interests in the watch area should make preparations to protect sensitive vegetation and young trees," the National Weather Service advises.

Monday will be partly sunny with a high near 44, according to the National Weather Service. On Tuesday partly sunny with a hi near 46. Even after the wind advisory expires, it will be windy with gusts as high as 30 mph.
