Home Depot Offers Trade-In Discount on Christmas Lights

The home improvement giant will reduce the price of its new LED lights sets when customers bring in old sets between Nov. 3-13.

Now that Halloween is behind us, it's time to start thinking of the holidays ahead and all the festive decor that goes with them. To help, is holding its fourth annual "Eco-Options Christmas Light Trade-In" program, saving customers money every time they trade out old lights for new.

A tiered coupon program will save customers anywhere from $3 to $5 when they bring in their old working or non-working Christmas light strings to be recycled and purchase a new set of energy efficient seasonal light-emitting diodes (LED) string lights.

“LED Christmas lights continue to be the growing trend in holiday décor,” said Brad Whited, holiday décor merchant at Home Depot. “Since The Home Depot began selling LED Christmas lights in 2006, the technology has improved and customers’ interest in them continues to grow with sales increasing each of the past five years. Last year, The Home Depot sold more than 40,000 miles of light sets, enough to circle the globe 1.5 times.”
