Man Killed in Wreck; Man Charged in Grandfather's Death

Man Killed in Whitlock Avenue Wreck - Marietta Patch

Marietta Police are investigating a single vehicle fatality accident on Whitlock Avenue at Winn Street that occurred at 1:42 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8.

Initial on scene investigation reveals that a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on Whitlock Avenue at a high rate of speed. Marietta Patch has more details on the accident.

Life Sentence For Starlight Drive-In Shooter - East Atlanta Patch

A DeKalb County Superior Court Judge sentenced Quentric S. Williams to life in prison Wednesday for the murder of Mitt-Chai Lenix, the Georgia National Guardsman and medic he shot to death last year.

- Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch

The man arrested Tuesday after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of courthouses in Cobb and Cherokee counties faces five new charges in connection with a similar threat in January.

Cherokee investigators had already secured arrest warrants for Jody Wilson for the Jan. 2 and May 7 threats. Cobb authorities stopped short of linking him to the earlier threat, and only charged him in connection with Tuesday's incident. Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch has more on this story. 

Mableton Man Charged with Grandfather's Death - South Cobb Patch

A missing Lilburn man was found dead in Mableton tonight, and one of two people being held on a felony murder charge in connection with his death is his grandson.

Edward Smith, 78, had not been seen since Thursday, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. He was reported missing on Sunday. Get the latest news on the investigation at South Cobb Patch.

- Brookhaven Patch

Two communities in Brookhaven and Chamblee are on rabies alert. 

DeKalb County Animal Services and Enforcement captured two raccoons in the Harts Mill Court area on April 26 and in the Ragley Hall Road area on April 30. Both raccoons tested positive for rabies. Brookhaven Patch has more on this story.
