Buford Athlete Dies Three Days After Collapsing at School - Buford Patch

A 16-year-old Buford teen has died three days after collapsing during a workout at Buford High School, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Adam Smith, a varsity basketball player, was running during a Sept. 13 preseason workout when he stopped to tell a teacher he was not feeling well. Moments later, Smith collapsed and was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where he died Sunday night. (Click here to read the full AJC article).


Elderly Woman Assaulted in Home

Sunday morning, an unknown male forced entry into a residence on Hazel Street in Marietta and assaulted the elderly female homeowner, according to Marietta Police. 

The intruder made verbal threats to physically harm the homeowner if she did not cooperate and took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry, according to Marietta Police. For more on this story see Marietta Patch.


Shooting Victim's Brother Speaks; Apartment Residents Give Take on Shooting - South Cobb Patch

The brother of an Austell man who was fatally shot at an Austell apartment complex spoke out Sunday.

According to Cobb police investigators, 27-year-old Andre Oliver was shot on Tuesday evening in the Parkview Apartments parking lot by the Parkview Apartments security guard after they were involved in a physical altercation.

The security guard thought to be responsible for the shooting has not been identified and has not been charged. For more on this story see South Cobb Patch.
