Former Boxer Dies in Shooting Incident

A former pro boxer was wanted in Dunwoody for false imprisonment and battery related to incidents with his wife; a woman police say shot and killed him early Tuesday, according to the AJC.

Earnest Mahir Abdul-Mateen, who fought under the name Ernest Mateen, retired in 2006 with a 30-12 record and a decorated history. .


Duplex Fire Displaces 2 in Norcross Area
- Norcross Patch

Two adults have been displaced because of a fire that caused heavy damage to their duplex home in unincorporated Norcross.

According to Gwinnett County Fire spokesman Colin Rhoden, a neighbor on the 5400 block of Bishops Circle reported the fire Nov. 7 at 1:34 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the duplex. .


Police Search for Bank Robber
- Douglasville Patch

The Douglasville Police Department is looking for a man that robbed the Bank of the Ozarks, off of Chapel Hill Road, Tuesday at about 3:15 p.m.

A man wearing a mask that looked like an old man said he had a gun and robbed the bank, Douglasville Police Deputy Chief Gary Sparks said. He never, however, displayed a weapon. .
