Suspect Arrested in Stabbing Deaths Off Redan Road

A suspect is in custody following the stabbing deaths of two people at a home off Redan Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain, according to published reports.

Man Injured in Downtown Train Crash
- Douglasville Patch

One man was injured and taken to Atlanta Medical after apparently attempting to drive around the warning signal cross bar and over the train tracks in downtown Douglasville Thursday morning, according to Capt. D. Shaw, Douglasville Police Department.

The man had no visible injuries but was complaining about his left leg, Shaw said. The train appeared to be undamaged..


Police Continue Investigation As Emily Bowman Fights For Her Life
- Woodstock Patch

Athens-Clarke County Police continue to piece together their case to make an arrest in the hit-and-run incident that has left a Woodstock woman in a coma. 

Lt. Don Eckert, commander of the agency's traffic unit, said detectives have interviewed around 20 witnesses and will continue to do so in the incident that's left 19-year-old Emily Bowman in critical condition at Athens Regional Medical Center. 

Eckert also said police have reviewed surveillance video of places that caught the Mazda pick-up truck before and after Bowman was struck from behind as she walked on the grassy shoulder of Oak Street just after 3 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 16. See Woodstock Patch for more on this story.

- South Cobb Patch

Four men, one of them with a Mableton address, allegedly manufactured, sold and delivered 52.9 pounds of methamphetamine. The four, including one man with a Cartersville address, are being held on drug trafficking and federal immigration violations. Find more information at South Cobb Patch.


Tractor-Trailer Slams Into Railroad Overpass
 - East Atlanta Patch

The stretch of East Confederate Avenue that was closed following a Wednesday evening incident in which a tractor-trailer slammed into railroad crossing overpass has reopened. The accident resulted in the trailer being wedged under the bridge with its trailer being sliced in half.

A witness who said he was just three cars behind the truck, said the truck was "moving big time," and that there are a few noticeable cracks now on the bridge. Read more on East Atlanta Patch.
