Gwinnett School Resource Officer Hit by Car While Directing Traffic
 - Suwanee Patch

A Gwinnett County Schools police resource officer was struck and injured by a vehicle about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday (February 13) near Lanier High in Sugar Hill, Gwinnett Police said.

The GCPS officer "suffered serious injuries" from the accident, which happened while he was directing traffic at the school, which is located on Buford Highway near Suwanee, police said. See Suwanee Patch for more on this story.

Standoff Keeps Residents from Homes
- Acworth Patch

A 23-year-old man who charged a Cobb County Police officer with a knife Tuesday afternoon and kept neighbors from their homes for close to six hours as law enforcement negotiated with him was taken into custody Tuesday evening.

Around 3 p.m., two officers responded to a dispute between the 23-year-old man and his parents at 667 Wolfs Bane Dr., which is located in the Chestnut Hill subdivision off Bells Ferry Road., said Sgt. Smyrna Officer Involved in Shooting Suspect
 - Smyrna-Vinings Patch

The Smyrna Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting from Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said a suspect was shot by a Smyrna police officer during a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle that resulted in a car chase and collisions involving multiple vehicles. 

The suspect in Tuesday's incident has been identified as 24-year-old Kevin Shymel Gibbs of Austell. Gibbs attempted to run down a Smyrna police officer and was shot, said Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith. See Smyrna-Vinings Patch for more on this story.


Football Coming to Kennesaw State
 - Kennesaw Patch

Score one for Kennesaw State. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Wednesday approved Kennesaw State’s request for a football program.

"Touchdown," Kennesaw athletic director Vaughn Williams said.
