Sheriff's Office Investigating Death of Baby

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a baby in a Cherokee County home Monday morning.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker confirmed that deputies are investigating the circumstances that lead to the baby's death. An autopsy and toxicology screen will be performed on the baby today.

Atlanta police have arrested a 51-year-old man in the brazen daylight killing of a man in his vehicle last fall, according to a news release.

Denorris Turner was arrested Monday and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Attempt in the killing of Graham Sisk, 23. 

The Atlanta Police Department said Turner was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he was being held Monday night. Read Virginia Highland-Druid Hills Patch for more on this story.


Dunwoody Police Look For McDonald's Armed Robbery Suspects

Dunwoody Police are searching for two suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning at a McDonald's on Ashford-Dunwoody Road.

According to a statement from Dunwoody Police, the incident occurred at 4:09 Monday morning at the McDonald's located at 4540 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Read Dunwoody Patch for more on this story.


Man Whacks Away Intruder with Golf Club
- Athens Patch

Around 7 a.m. on Jan. 6, officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at a North Harris Street residence of a UGA student.

Officers met with the 22-year-old resident who said he had been asleep when he heard a noise in the living room. He looked out of his bedroom door but did not see anything out of order so he went back to bed.

A few minutes later he heard another noise. He grabbed a golf club--a 7 iron, according to the Athens Banner Herald--from his closet, entered the living room and saw a man standing there. Read Athens Patch for more on this story.
