Teen Arrested, Charged with Molesting 5-Year-Old Girl - Cumming Patch

A 15-year-old Gainesville teen has been charged as an adult for molesting a 5-year-old girl.

Daniel Lee Eller is in custody for an incident that happened on July 30.

According to Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 5 a.m. deputies responded to a residence on Fran Mar Drive in Gainesville regarding a report of a child molestation in progress.

When deputies arrived at the home they discovered that Eller had entered the home through an unlocked window and was caught in the act of molesting the little girl when the child's mother went into her room to check on her. She then alerted the girl’s father, who confronted Eller and detained him until deputies arrived.

Eller, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, was arrested and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.

He was then booked into the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC), initially charged with child molestation, burglary, and criminal trespass. But during a court hearing on Monday, Aug. 6, it was determined that Eller would be charged as an adult.

As a result, the juvenile charges were dismissed and he was booked into the Hall County Jail under charges of aggravated child molestation and burglary, and then taken back to Gainesville RYDC.

Eller remains held without bond awaiting his next scheduled court appearance on Sept. 6.

Meanwhile, the incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

 - Lawrenceville Patch

Investigators now know more about the  in unincorporated Lawrenceville. However, they still do not know who she is. On Sunday, neighbors found human remains in a wooded area behind 1414 Azalea Drive. Police are treating this case as a "suspicious death."

Initial examinations determined the body was that of a black woman. The Medical Examiner was able to narrow the age range of the 19 to 22. They also revealed the woman was between 5'8" and 6'0" tall. 

The victim was found wearing a T-shirt from a memorial function for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 2008 and a red Smoke Rise brand jacket in a size large.

 - Cartersville Patch

 arrested a Savannah man whose dog was treated for exhaustion and low glucose levels and later died.

Authorities responded to  after they received a complaint the man was driving a U-Haul through Cartersville with his Cocker Spaniel-mix in the back of the moving truck, according to a news release.

When police arrived, the dog was lying next to the truck in the parking lot in apparent physical distress and a concerned citizen was pouring water on the dog to help cool it down.

Jerry Mason, 50, of Savannah, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. He was traveling from Savannah to Kentucky, he told police.

 - Roswell Patch

The  helped arrest a couple last weekend for drug trafficking hundreds of pounds of methamphetamines.

According to a press release from the department, Roswell and Alpharetta officers assisted Drug Enforcement Administration agents in arresting the couple at a home on Rappahannock Drive in Alpharetta.

Law enforcement found with 220 pounds of crystal methamphetamines with a street value of over $5.5 million in the home.
