Oprah Show Highlights Forsyth County

Monday's Oprah show features scenes from the 1987 town hall meeting she held and taped in Cumming.

In honor of MLK Day, the Oprah Show features a look back at race in America over the past 25 years.

A portion of today’s show will feature her 1987 town hall meeting held in Cumming where she heard from many Forsyth County citizens about race, including from one man named Dennis. He had a lot to say back then and will again appear on the Oprah Show to say more.

According to Oprah.com, Dennis sits down with Oprah and talks about his experience on the show in 1987 and what happened to him since his “15 minutes of fame.”

The Web site states, “Dennis is here today to speak about his experience on the show and in the years since. "I would see [people] in the stores and they would go to the next aisle to keep from having to speak to me," he remembers.

He also wants to clear up a misunderstanding he thinks people have about his last interview with Oprah. "Let me say this…in front of God and everybody: I was not insinuating the 'n'-word towards you," Dennis tells Oprah. "I want to apologize for that. If you took it that way, I'm sorry."

The show airs today at 4 p.m. on WSB-TV.
