Turn Your Clocks Back One Hour This Weekend
It's time to fall back one hour as daylight saving time ends Sunday, so don't forget to turn your clocks back to 2 a.m. on Nov. 6.
On Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 a.m. we officially switch off Daylight Saving Time and revert to Eastern Standard Time.
DST kicked off March 13 for an extended period of daylight saving in 2011. What used to begin on the first Sunday in April and ended the last Sunday in October has slowly been extended to make for a longer period of daylight saving each year.
(FCFD) reminds everybody to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as they set their clocks
back an hour.

“Replacing the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors takes just a few minutes and could prove to be life-saving,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman in a statement.
It is particularly important at this time, especially in light of the upcoming holiday season. Winter, and Christmas tree lights, make for an extra risk of house fires during the Christmas season.

In addition to replacing the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors every six months, the FCFD also recommends testing the detectors at least once a month. The units themselves should be replaced every eight to 10 years. Smoke detectors should be installed on every level of your home and they should be kept clean and free of dust.
The Fire Department’s Public Safety Education Division also provides battery-powered smoke detectors free of charge for senior citizens and residents in need.
