Today is the Shortest Day of the Year

Friday, Dec. 21, is the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

The bad news for those who like daylight is we won't have much today.

Dec. 21, 2012, is the winter solstice in Earth's Northern Hemisphere, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac

The good news is days begin getting longer again on Saturday!

The sun's path will reach its southern most high noon position in the sky, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, according to An Almanac Minute: The Winter Solstice. The short video is attached to this article.

Keep in mind, that winter does intend to make its presence known today, too. Temperatures are expected to be in the 30s today and start dropping into the upper to mid 20's overnight in the Cumming and Forsyth County area.

I was going to ask the same thing about the jobs. I really liked the job search engine that wasRead More included before the format change. The link you provided is okay, but I liked being able to see what's available in other places and being able to narrow the search as well. You said "you can always find it under "Business"". Where? I don't see it. To be honest, I don't really care for the new website layout. I had only recently found Cumming Patch and was really enjoying it. I'm not sure I'll continue visiting. The new layout is not easy to navigate. The dropdowns that used to be in the menu were really nice so that you could go directly to what you were looking for.
