Tree Causes Temporary Closure of Big Creek Greenway

A section of Big Creek Greenway is closed because of a fallen tree, but is expected to re-open later today.

A section of Big Creek Greenway, from the Bethelview Road trail head to Majors Road, is closed because of a fallen tree, but is expected to re-open later today.

"The repairs were necessitated by a tree that fell across a portion of the trail. The impacted area was very small, but the approximately 1-mile section was closed to allow for the repairs to be made," said Jodi Gardner, Director of Communications for Forsyth County, in an e-mail. "The repairs on this section are expected to be completed this afternoon."

Keep in mind, another section of the greenway, from McFarland Parkway to Union Hill Road, is closed for repairs. No specific date of when that section will re-open and the county asks residents and visitors to avoid the area until the repairs are completed.
