Weekend Rain Will Soak Cumming, Forsyth

Forsyth County and the north Georgia area is expected to get about two inches of rain through Monday.

Don't get too comfortable with those sunny skies and mild temperatures, Woodstock. 

The weekend is slated to bring clouds and rain to finish out the rest of the week.

A "shortwave" will move across Georgia over the weekend and "will bring the return of showers and thunderstorms to north and central Georgia for the weekend into the early work week," according to the National Weather Service's Forecast Office in Peachtree City

The service predicts the heaviest amount of rain could fall Saturday night and into Sunday morning, with total rainfall amounts reaching between two and two-and-a-half inches through Monday across north Georgia.

Cumming's forecast for the weekend calls for Friday to remain sunny and highs will reach 73. Tonight will bring a 20 percent chance of rain and lows will dip to 52 degrees.

Expect a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms threatening the area. Highs will reach into the 70s. Rainfall chances increase to 70 percent Saturday night and lows will reach the mid 50s.

On Sunday, rain chances will hover at 70 percent, and highs will reach 69 degrees and lows will once again be in the mid 50s. 

A 20 percent chance of rain will remain in the area on Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy on both days and highs will be in the mid 70s and lows will bottom out in the mid 50s.
