Voter Guide Available for Jan. 7 Special Election

The special election to fill the Georgia House District 22 seat affects about 11,000 Forsyth voters who live in the southwestern portion of the county.

The "Voter Information Guide for the Jan. 7, 2014, Special Election" is now available on the Forsyth County Voter Registrations and Elections Department’s main web page.

The special election to fill the vacancy in Georgia House District 22 only affects voters in District 22, about 11,000 in the southwestern portion of Forsyth County, according an email from Elections Supervisor Mandi Smith.

In Forsyth County, Georgia House District 22 encompasses the entire Brandywine precinct, portions of the Polo precinct, portions of the Midway precinct and all of the former Vickery precinct. All former Vickery precinct voters have been reallocated to either the Polo or Midway precinct due to recent changes.

Last month, the county Board of Voter Registrations and Elections voted to implement precinct and polling location changes affecting the majority of voters in Forsyth County. Voters in Georgia House District 22 immediately affected by this change—those voters in the former Vickery precinct who have experienced a change to their polling location—were mailed a precinct card on Dec. 5, notifying them of the change.  All other voters who have experienced changes to their polling location will be mailed notification in 2014 prior to the next General Primary.

The Brandywine, Polo and Midway polling locations will be open on Election Day for those voters residing in Georgia House District 22. No other polling locations will be open in Forsyth County on Election Day because only those voters who reside in Georgia House District 22 are eligible to vote in the special election.
