Make Use of the Upcoming Holiday Season!

While many of us love the cheer-filled holiday season between November and January, those few months can be a stressful time for sellers looking to find a buyer for their home.  However, while often filled with an abundance of glad-tiding obligations, this busy time has several advantages for the savvy seller.

For starters, feel free to deck the halls, but be careful that you don’t go too far overboard by making sure Santa and his eight tiny reindeer make a permanent pit-stop on your roof.  Homes often look their best during the holidays, but decorations that are too large or too cluttered can serve as an unnecessary distraction for buyers.  Instead, stick to adornments which compliment your everyday décor and focus on bringing shoppers into the festive season with classic touches of comfort and warmth.

Secondly, with the cool weather comes fall foliage which not only litters your lawn, but makes curb appeal even more important.  Since all of those barren trees leave your once beautifully-picturesque house just a little more exposed, make a point to touch up the paint and spruce up the yard to help buyers see its year-round potential.

Furthermore, when the drop in temperatures leaves homebuyers more content to search listings over the internet instead of venturing out to your house, make a great first impression by offering lots of high-quality, flattering photos.  With this, you might even want to think about possibly creating a virtual-video tour which can garner some attention without shoppers having to brave the elements.

Lastly, for those buyers who do make it a point to visit listings, take advantage of the holiday season’s warm feelings and put in some extra effort to make your residence feel as cozy and inviting as possible.  Light the fireplace, put on some soft classical music, and even offer some festive homemade treats because, when all is said and done, encouraging buyers to spend extra time in your home gives them more time to admire its finest qualities.

In the end, remember that, while things might not always move as quickly as you’d like among the hubbub of holiday shopping and family visits, dedicated buyers are still on the look-out for great properties and with a little bit of festive real estate magic, they’ll hopefully be setting their sights on yours.
