Never Underestimate the Power of a Beautiful Backyard!

As the warmer weather makes its way into Georgia, finding the time to get outdoors becomes more of a priority.  In regards to putting your home on the market, spring not only marks the beginning of real estate season, but it also sets the perfect stage to woo potential homebuyers with an inviting backyard space. 

As I’ve mentioned in past posts, you only get one opportunity to make a great first impression.  Generally speaking, when buyers see your home, they decide rather quickly whether it’s something that appeals to them.  Therefore, since the backyard is not an area that is generally seen first, it’s important to make sure that a favorable first impression extends out your backdoor as well.

With this, showing your home during the warmer months of spring is beneficial for many reasons, least of all the fact that your outdoor décor often looks best when it’s making potential buyers imagine friend-filled barbeques and fragrant gardens.  To help these visions along, little details can make a world of difference:

-If you have a pool or hot tub, make sure it’s well-maintained and clean.

-Use fertilizer and a little bit of watering to restore a lush green lawn.

-Don’t slack on your mowing and edging duties.  Clean lines can make a big difference!

-Keep shrubs and bushes neatly trimmed, so that your yard looks bigger and your home looks new.

-Pay attention to your fences.  Consider adding fresh paint and repair all broken latches or hinges.

-If you own a dog, make sure to clean up after him/her so that the yard remains unsullied.

-Consider planting a few annuals to add some instant, lively color.

-Arrange all patio furniture while also making sure it’s clean and strategically placed.

-Add a few potted plants to particularly mundane seating areas.

In short, buyers are looking for that tranquil, at ease feeling.  If you can create that in your backyard, you’ll be well on your way to securing an excited future homeowner!
