Unique Activities Within 60 Miles of Cumming, GA - Part II

Last week, I took you through some of the unique places to visit within 60 (ish) miles of Cumming, GA; however, what I thought would be a short list, actually turned out to warrant two blog posts.  All-too-often, it seems we get so caught up in the living of our lives, that we forget to take advantage of the interesting experiences within our own backyards.

Therefore, my current goal is to infuse your weekend with a little bit of unexpected fun!

1.) ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY EXOTIC DRIVING EXPERIENCE (65 miles):  If you’ve ever found yourself wanting to see what it feels like to drive a vehicle that costs $100,000 or more, then this is the activity for you.  With options including cars such as the Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 997S, and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Supperleggera, you’ll be able to test the exotic car of your choice for six laps of the 1.54-mile quad-oval.

2.) CHATEAU ELAN (25 miles):  While known for its winery and golf course, Chateau Elan also includes a beautiful hotel and spa, as well as several five star restaurants.  If you’re in need of a couple’s weekend getaway but don’t want to travel too far, then look no further for classy treatment in a beautiful country setting.

3.) LANIER WORLD FAMILY FUN PARK (15 miles):  While this part of Georgia is definitely known for Lake Lanier’s water sport activities, many people forget that the Lanier World Family Fun Park offers 11 waterslides and adventures to choose from.  Great for the whole family, daily admission options are available, as well as seasonal passes.

4.) BLOOD MOUNTAIN (48 miles):  For the avid hiker, Blood Mountain is the highest peak in Georgia along the Appalachian Trail.  With scenic views, hiker’s shelters, and large rock formations at the top of the mountain, the main hiking loop runs about six miles; however, due to the difficulty of the terrain, may take a large portion of the day to traverse.

5.) BABYLAND GENERAL HOSPITAL (40 miles):  Located in Cleveland—within relatively close proximity to activities in Helen, GA—Babyland has been voted the Travel Channel’s Top Ten Toylands.  Sitting upon 650 acres of the North Georgia Mountain countryside, the southern style “hospital” is filled with antique and new Cabbage Patch Kids (in the nursery, of course!).  Admission is free, so don’t be afraid to bring the whole family and enjoy the magic of witnessing the birth of a famous Cabbage Patch Kid.
