Earth Day 2014 Events In Forsyth County Roundup

It's that time of year again where we treat Mother Nature a little kinder. Find out what you can do to help by checking out the events list below.

National Park Service Earth Day Celebration

  • What: Naturalist Jerry Hightower in conjunction with the NPS will be hosting an Earth-Day event complete with a campfire, guided night hikes under the stars and a reptile demonstration featuring Greg Greer of “Mr. Greg’s Reptile Roadshow."   • Where: Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center, 8615 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, 30022
  • When: April 19, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful Earth Day Celebration
  • What: KFCB will be a hosting a two-day event complete with educational workshops and recycling plant tours. Tours and workshops are free. Homeschooled children may attend the "Homeschool Special," allowing students to participate in an interactive class on pollution and have fun in the park. Students are asked to bring a lunch. Interested persons may call 770-205-4573 for more information
  • Where: Coal Mountain Recycling Convenience Center at Coal Mountain Park, 3560 Settingdown Road.
  • When: April 21 at 4 p.m. and April 22 at 5 p.m. "Homeschool Special" is April 22 at 11 a.m.
KFCB GreenOut
  • What: Sport some green to show your support of Earth Day
  • Where: Anywhere!
  • When: April 22
Annual Shred Day
  • What: Forsyth County residents may bring their unwanted documents to be shredded for free. Personal paper documents, file boxes, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, empty prescription bottles and X-rays are all acceptable materials to be shredded and recycled. Refreshments will be provided. Interested persons may call 678-566-3682 for more information.
  • Where: 12600 Deerfield Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30004
  • When: April 22, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
