The Savoy Pink Tourmaline Tiara
Happy Tiara Tuesday! This week we bring you a very sweet, subtly colored tiara, the Savoy Pink Tourmaline Tiara. This tiara belongs to the former Italian royal family, the Savoys, and it is mostly diamonds with pink tourmaline accents.
This delightful tiara is part of a pink tourmaline parure, all owned by the Savoy family. It was originally made for Queen Maria Theresa of Sardinia, a member of the Tuscan branch of the Habsburg family who died in 1855. The tiara passed to her son, who died leaving it to his wife, Princess Elisabeth of Saxony. She then passed the tiara on to her daughter, Margherita of Savoy, who married King Umberto I of Italy, and the tiara has remained in the Italian collection ever since. Its most famous appearance in recent years was in 2003 for the wedding of Emanuele Filiberto, to French actress Clothilde Courau.
The tiara is so subtle you almost miss the pink tourmalines upon first glance! When they do catch your eye though, they add that glimmer of pink, and a little something extra, to this fabulous tiara.
Thank you for reading and have a fantastic Tiara Tuesday!
