Facebook Post Apocalypse... What Are You Doing Now?

Facebook Post Apocalypse…

Well the hammer has dropped and changes are still making their way across Facebook for business pages. The decrease in visibility has been tremendous and heard a lot of questions. There have been tons of people threatening to leave Facebook and  even known a bunch to delete their pages.

Guess what else I have noticed? I have noticed that pages that I personally interact with are showing more info than before. I see a lot more relevant ads that target me specifically. Running ads I have found a lot more engagement plus my click through rates are a lot higher.

What does all of this mean since the bomb was dropped on all of us? To me as a marketer it means that running ads are going to continue to be in front of more of my target audience, along with client ads. It means that the quality of content coming out that will be seen in the newsfeed will be higher. This is great to me as a user and also as a marketer!

As a FB User

As a heavy Facebook user I love seeing things that are super targeted to my interests. I click on ads that interest me and I spend money on stuff found on FB. Scrolling through my news feed, I will hide stuff that doesn’t interest me. It tells FB that I don’t care about that stuff, which is ok because they are building a profile on me as a user. They look at what I click on, like, post replies to and so on. So they have a pretty good profile on me and what I spend money on online. I am perfectly fine with that because I want to be shown things of interest to me.

As a Marketer

This is where it gets exciting for me… My organic reach is waaaaaaaayyyyyy down, but that is ok… When I put out something that is quality that I know people care about, I will spend $5 to boost the post. What happens is that this stuff will be shared more and commented on. This boosts my post even more and helps me to be seen by more people. This is what we should all be after, engagement or interaction on FB!

Here is something that FB is cracking down on, posts that say “like this to win” “like, comment or share” based on some criteria. FB considers that spammy and so do I, the sad part is that so many people get involved with spammy posts. Which is why that stuff continues to exist, because it raises engagement.

My engagement is down and I don’t know what to do!

Well if you fall into this category, let me suggest something to you. Come check out my class on the 22nd of this month. We will be discussing the Big 3 Social Media Titans that boost Search Engine Rankings. I am going to address a bunch of stuff on this new algorithm and give you some stuff to do to counteract it. Plus all of the other information I am going to drop on you will blow your mind! I know it sounds kind of corny, but this info is amazing and will help boost your website as well as your social media presence. Sign up link is below

Let me close with this

Don’t give up on Facebook, yes they make massive changes, but we need them to. We need FB to constantly be challenging us in order to run off our competition. Not really, but sometimes that happens and it helps us when it does. You need to understand that FB will change in big ways and your strategy will need to adjust with it. Always be on the look out for when the changes happen and take notes of what it helps or hurts with your pages. I can tell you that not all pages are suffering and some are doing better than before. I watch a ton of pages and big people in the industry, so I see a lot more than most when it comes to changes.

At the end of the day, let us all remember that FB is here to make money. They make money off of ads, so we need to keep that in mind when we are getting angry, especially if we aren’t running ads. Are the “free” days over? Not at all, you can still boost your engagement by sharing and posting things that are relevant to your consumers. The more relevant and helpful you are, the more you will get shared and that will boost your reach.

I have adopted this motto when it comes to the ever changing field of Social Media “Never Give Up! Never Surrender!”. Yes that is from a movie, but I believe that it is relevant.
