One Great Day of Service is about living out the Golden Rule, it is about looking at a community as people, not numbers, and about doing just one thing. Do One Thing: Saturday, March 24.
How will you get to your next destination? It starts with one step. How will the proposal get written? One word. How are you going to start paying off your debt One dollar. How will you make a difference in the world? One thing.
Everyone wants to do amazing things. People want to be the next big thing. This is why real things, important things, don't get done. Just do one thing.
So what if you got 400 plus people to do one thing? Well then, you get One Great Day of Service!

On Saturday, March 24, people will be giving their time working for 28 different agencies as well as ministries and outreach programs around the church and community. Some people will be involved through the Red Cross blood drive and food drives at local Kroger stores (Bethelview & Johns Creek) and the Walmart on Atlanta Highway (Scouts are manning the Kroger and Walmart locations). Home Depot in Cumming pitched in with buggies and carts to help the food pantry. Meals will be served to the homeless, older adults will be visited, and projects completed at places like Eagle Ranch, Camp Glisson, and Jesses House to name a few.
One idea. One church. One day. One invitation to a community to do one thing. That was the vision Rev. John Cromartie brought toover 10 years ago. The idea is simple but really not original. You can trace it to these words, “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

Those were John Wesley's words and they have been a mantra for Christians for a few hundred years, and not just United Methodists! One Great Day of Service is about living out the Golden Rule, it is about looking at a community as people, not numbers, and about doing just one thing.
