E*TRADE Gives Back To Mentor Me North Georgia

The financial company has donted over $50,000 in the charity since 2005.

A popular financial company is giving back to a local Forsyth County charity.

Since 2005, E*TRADE financial has donated $52,000 to Mentor Me North Georgia, which makes it possible for the organization to match more than 50 children to volunteers and mentors such as Robert & Andrea Hnatishion.

Over the years, The Hnatishions have enjoyed many different activities and special moments- everything from fishing to helping one of the youths named Tony prepare for big events such as homecoming.

The Hnatishion’s have made a positive impact on Tony’s life.  Thanks to the support of E*TRADE, many young children like Tony have also been able to benefit from having a mentor.  

“E*TRADE has always focused on supporting local communities where we have a corporate presence –especially as it relates to youth-oriented causes- and Mentor Me fits the profile perfectly,” said Michael Schoenberger, vice president of relationship management for E*TRADE Securities.

Mentor Me matches adult volunteers with children ages 6 through 17 who need or want a mentor.

Men are paired up with boys and girls are matched with women. Both mentors and the children share everyday activities such sports, cooking, movies, going to the zoo, museum and music events.  

In 2012, a survey of children in the program found  79% showed improvement in their self-confidence/ self-esteem levels and 73% maintained or showed improvement in behavior and academic performance.
