Captain Herb Emory Memorial Service To Take Place Saturday

Captain Herb Emory will be honored at a public memorial service this weekend.

Captain Herb Emory, who delighted WSBTV viewers since 1991, will be laid to rest this week in east Cobb.

A memorial service celebrating his life will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church located at 955 Johnson Ferry Road.

A visitation service will take place Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville.

Emory died of a heart attack Saturday while he was comforting victims of a car wreck. He was 61.

Residents across the Atlanta area sent an outpouring of love following his death, and some have suggested erecting a memorial in his honor.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134,  or A Gift of Love Services, 3870 Longview Drive, Douglasville, GA 30135.
