Family of Suspected Drowning Victim Seeks Help with Funeral Expenses

The family of 45-year-old Ramiro Ponce-Ruiz, who died Sunday, Sept. 1, while swimming in Amicalola Creek near Dawsonville, is asking for help with funeral expenses.

Victor Garcia, a family friend, said a fundraiser page has been set up in hopes of raising money for Ruiz's funeral expenses.

The following statement appears on the website Indiegogo, which is described as a crowd funding platform:

We ask that you join us in celebrating his life by contributing to his Funeral Expense Fund. A gift of whatever amount is meaningful to you, will help. Donor names will be listed in gratitude on the printed program at his memorial service.

We also ask that you help us spread the word. Please share this campaign on Facebook, Twitter, any social media.

We hope we can count on you to give Ramiro the farewell he deserves for being a part of our lives.
